The2.5 TDI engine described is a V6 with a 90 degree split angle and a total displacement of 2,469 cc. The compression ratio is relatively high compared to today’s standards, at 19.5. However, the design of the R5 had a compression ratio of as much as 21, although the later version was lowered to 18.5.
